The cell's busiest factory is its least understood.

Inside the nucleolus, RNA Polymerase I transcribes the ribosomal RNAs at the heart of every ribosome. We study how this ribosome factory guides normal hematopoiesis and immunity, and fuels leukemia.

Research

The control knob

How does a cell set the pace of its ribosome factory?

The consequences

Why do different blood cells need different numbers of ribosomes?

The disease

How does leukemia hijack the ribosome factory, and can we selectively repress it?
